Itineraries

The Libyan Desert (10 Days)

Day 1: Arrival Tripoli Airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Flight to Sebha (Largest settlement in Libyan Sahara, S of Tripoli @ 1000km), overnight at hotel or organized camp.

Day 3: Drive to Mathkandaoush area, to see lots of beautiful engravings (graffiti) and admire the panoramic views near Germa. Overnight at organized camp.

Day 4-5: Touring to the Acacus-Tadrart areas visiting wadis which contain lots of paintings, drawings and rock arts (>12000y ago). Overnight Camping.

Day 6: Early morning drive to Serdalus (Alawynat), and on to the great salt lakes (Umm Alma Oasis) surrounded by a huge of sand dunes. Overnight at organized camp.

Day 7: Drive back to Sebha for flight back to Tripoli passing through Germa (Ancient City) and Alhatyia. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Sightseeing tour of Tripoli including the superb National Museum, Green Square, the Church of Santa Maria, the 18th century British Consulate, the 17th century French Consulate, Arch of Marcus Aurelius and the mosques and souks of the medina where lunch will be taken. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Study the wonderful archaeological sights of the Greco-Roman City of Sabratha. Lunch locally. Return to hotel in Tripoli.

Day 10: Departure.
